CAHSEE Prep
This prep course will cover all of the math concepts and ideas that all California high school students must master. The units covered will be: Number Sense, Basic Algebra and Functions, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Data Analysis, and Algebra I. Each unit consists of several video lectures and accompanying notes. Each lecture is developed in such a way that a student may start at any section of the video. At the end of each section, there are problems to attempt before moving on to the next topic. The end of each unit has an exam to test comprehension. All sample problems and practice consist of released test questions from previous CAHSEE exams.
Student/Parent Expectations
Students should begin this prep course one month before taking the exam. On average, students are encouraged to complete the course in three weeks, leaving an additional week for review (or remediation of any topics where needed). There are links to many web sites throughout the course where students can find additional practice problems on selected topics. The instructor will be online two times each week - via video conference - where students can ask questions or see demonstrations of more problems. Along with this, students may email the instructor at any time with questions regarding problems, concepts, or the exam. Our goal is to have each student who completes this course pass the CAHSEE exam on their first attempt (after our course), leaving more time for planning life after high school.
